Community assets and multimorbidity: A qualitative scoping study

Little is known of how community assets can play a role in multimorbidity care provision. Using rapid ethnographic approach, the study explored perceptions managed within Southwark and Lambeth Southeast London, England. The scoping work comprised four micro-studies covering (1) Rapid review literature (2) Documentary analysis publicly available local policy documents (3) Thematic stories (4) Semi-structured stakeholder interviews. data were analysed using framework thematic analysis. Themes are presented for each microstudies. highlights attitudes understandings management multiple long-term conditions need to move beyond silos their management. identifies resource poor climate, whilst recognising solution-focussed interventions multimorbidity. Community patient underline lack joined up care, psychosocial issues such as loss control reducing isolation. interview reveals again sense disjointed holism understanding treatment multimorbidity, important community-based approaches, biomedical model. Recommendations stemming from study’s findings proposed. Upholding access resourcing have key practical importance.
